From the Burlington Free Press review of "A Kaleidoscopic Panorama View of Burlington" at the Firehouse Gallery, Burlington, VT

The Johnson artist works with a pinhole camera to superimpose and scramble his subject matter, creating interwoven shots thanks to unusually long exposure times.

He credits chance and visual coincidence for the haunted quality achieved in his prints, some of which are 24 or 30 feet in length. "There is no digital manipulation of these scenes," Romero, 52, points out in this age of high-tech wizardry. "Every inch is exactly as it came out of the camera."

Romero...had to rethink the photographic process because conventional techniques and equipment were inappropriate given the physical scale of his projects.
